Affected Others Support Worker (Norwich)

Hours:              15 hours per week

Salary:             £21,061 per annum pro-rata

We are looking for an experienced professional to support young carers and young people under the age of 19 affected by the substance misuse of others.  You will need experience of working directly with young people, have a relevant qualification or experience and an understanding of the issues facing young people in relation to someone else’s drug and alcohol use. This post involves working in universal, targeted and specialist settings and will include the identification, engagement, screening and assessment of young people affected by the substance misuse of others.

The post is part of the Unity Service; a partnership between Norfolk Carers Support, The Matthew Project and Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.  The jobholder will be  employed by Norfolk Carers Support and seconded into the Matthew Project.

The office base for this post is Norwich but will cover a wider geographical area across central and south Norfolk. The work will be carried out within the service location and in the community; the ability to travel is essential. Work is currently being carried out remotely and in the Matthew Project office.

Volunteers (Norwich)

We are excited to have recently expanded the number of  young carers groups we offer in Norwich. To assist the team we are looking for additional enthusiastic volunteers. Our groups take place on Wednesday and Thursday nights during term time 4.45 pm to 8.00 pm.

You will need to be reliable, enjoy working with children, have good communication skills and an awareness of how caring can affect young people.

In addition we are looking for volunteers to help in the kitchen and to provide a cooked meal during the young carers group.

You will need to enjoy cooking and being around young people. A food hygiene qualification is desirable, but training can be provided if required.

Reference and DBS checks will be undertaken for successful applicants for both roles.
